BarScope is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use the BarScope mobile application. By using BarScope, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Create and identify your account
• Manage your Pro subscription status
• Respond to support requests

Your data is never used for advertising, profiling, or sold to third parties.

Barcode Scanning

All scanning happens entirely on your device. When you scan a product, the barcode number is sent directly to openfoodfacts.org to retrieve product data. BarScope does not receive or store any record of your scans.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data. The only exceptions are:

• Subscription processing — Apple, Google, and RevenueCat receive subscription status information only, to manage your Pro access.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by applicable law or legal process.

Data Storage & Security

Account data (name, email, scan history, preferences) is stored locally on your device. No personal data is transmitted to BarScope servers. Subscription data is managed securely by RevenueCat in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the app's Settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your name, email address, scan history, and saved preferences.

If you have an active Pro subscription, you must cancel it separately via the App Store or Google Play before or after deleting your account.

Children's Privacy

BarScope is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at support@barscope.eu.

Open Food Facts

Product data displayed in BarScope is sourced from Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), a collaborative, non-profit food database licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). BarScope is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or otherwise connected to Open Food Facts.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of BarScope after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
